Car-nage

Unreal car racing game with LAN multiplayer focus.

This project happened after the Unity project, as a small team of 3, we were tasked with creating a game that utilised the Unreal engine with a core focus on the blueprints system. A colleague and I were in charge of programming the game, with me taking control of the core gameplay loop and getting the LAN multiplayer to work across two different pcs. I learned about the different server types and decided for costs to go with a Host-Client relationship. This meant that the hosting player essentially was the server, with other clients connecting to them. This wasn’t ideal for a racing game as it gave the host an advantage, but it was the cost-efficient option.

Engine: Unreal Engine 4
Goal: Group project to showcase our unreal engine ability, co-programmed.
Time Estimation: 2 months
